Well, St. Matthews #2 got off to a 1-0 start on the softball season, defeating St. Luke #1, 11-10 in seven innings. It was a close one. Yours truely went 2 for 4 with two triples, including what wound up being the game winning hit (what follows is Jay patting himself on te back and stroking his own ego. Fair warning). With the team down 10-8 going into the bottom of the seventh, St. Matthew would up scoring one run, and putting men on first and second (or first and third, who can remember) with two outs. 10-9 now. And so I found myself batting with the game on the line. But after hearing the other team call their outfielders to come in closer, I hit the first pitch deep to Left-Center field over the outfielder’s head and the two runners on base scored easily as I stumbled my way around second base, pretty excited about our come from behind victory.
Next game is thie Friday, again at Idlewild Park at 6:15pm, hopefully we can keep the wins coming.
